Welcome to Baraka – the world renowned gift shop situated in Cape Town.
Baraka is a Swahili word which means a blessing. Allow us to take you on an inspiring journey to a world filled with an eclectic mix of arts, crafts, jewellery, décor and much more. For us, design and social responsibility go hand in hand. Therefore we try to sell as much recycled items as possible, while we do our best to buy directly from small, independent craftsmen and –women from South Africa and the rest of the continent.
We also sell vintage items, because we believe retro design is still very much relevant today. At Baraka you will find a range of handmade leather notebooks and photo albums, hand crochet hats, shell and driftwood spoons, affordable jewellery, out-of-the-box art, quirky once-off pieces, unusual non-curio African goods, Panama hats, handbags, hand-woven Zulu baskets made from recycled telephone wire – and the biggest selection of scarves in Cape Town, to mention but a few. Baraka gets new stock a few times a week – and it constantly changes. Our vision is to afford you an extraordinary shopping experience at very affordable prices.
Our loyal customers refer to our shop as a “treasure trove” and “the little shop with the big heart”. You will find the perfect gift here, come and experience it for yourself! Blessings from Baraka!
Please note: Currently we only sell a limited number of items online, so please pay us a visit at our shop at the Cape Quarter Square in Cape Town’s scenic and vibey De Waterkant village in Green Point.
